Hindi Song | Optimize Image Sizes Online With Yahoo’s Smushit

Yahoo recently introduced a web based tool called Smushit to help you optimize the size of web images without affecting visual quality.

Smushit reduces the file size of images by reducing the number of colors, strips off excess metadata, and also discards other non visual data.

There are three ways you can use Smushit:

• Upload a bunch of pictures in your browser
• Provide a list of image URLs
• Firefox Extension to optimize the images found on any web page.

Interestingly, the Smushit site seems to hosted on Dreamhost, not on Yahoo servers as one would expect.

Hindi Song | Yahoo! News - Try their New Design

Yahoo! is working on a new layout of their Yahoo! News portal that is easier on the eyes and also packs more content per page including a new section on "most blogged stories".

Here’s a screenshot of the new vs old version of Yahoo! News.

There’re no major changes except that they switched to a slightly wider format and you’ve more thing to explore than before.

If you like to try this new design, open any Yahoo! News page in your browser and replace ’s’ in the URL with the word ’story’. For instance:

Old version: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080907/ap_on_hi_te/satellite_launch

New version: http://news.yahoo.com/story/ap/20080907/ap_on_hi_te/satellite_launch

There’s a new "Most Blogged" stories section that also shows a list of blogs who have linked to that story. This is powered by Buzz Tracker which was acquired by Yahoo! sometime back.
